Milwaukee Condo

We met this Britney Spears fan at a social function which spawned a great friendship. Starting with her kitchen she expanded the scope to her guest bathroom and her master bathroom to follow. We tried to incorporate her love for the gritty city of New York in the guest bathroom and catering to her elegant side in the Master bathroom.

Winnetka Home

Working with an outside contractor is never ideal but we're happy to do it at the client's request. This kitchen came together wonderfully. The dramatic powder room is sure to be a conversation starter.

Evanston Condo

This lovely couple was one of our favorites to work with. Allowing us to use playful materials and high end fixtures we turned this project into a real show stopper.

This gut rehab of the first floor prompted a new floor plan.  By eliminating walls and non-functioning fireplaces, we created this open floor plan for a busy family of four.  We pay homage to the building's character in the basement with an original door display.  Our eclectic design breathes new life into the space with earthy tones, marrying a contemporary style and ethnic accessories.

Lincoln Park Single Family Home

Relocating from Florida, this young family was referred to us by a mutual friend. Our goal was to give them a look that was fun, laidback and practical. We loved every moment working together creating a fun vibrant space for them and their daughters.

Lincoln Park Condo

A new home buyer contacted MILIEU for what seemed to be an easy kitchen makeover. After taking a closer look at the structure, we had to address some pretty serious issues first. Replacing the entire first floor, refinishing the stairs and second level flooring gave us an opportunity to richen up the depth of the space. We chose to eliminate the confusing soffits and made the new drop ceiling a focal point wrapped in hardwood. With a combination of open and closed storage our client is able to display some of his treasures and also conceal items in the floor to ceiling pantry. The rich color palette we chose set the tone for this dark dramatic kitchen.

West Town Master Bath

A young family wanted an updated master bath with some personality. We renovated the space entirely- omitting an oversized tub, relocating plumbing, adding additional lighting and selecting some of the most beautiful materials. This bathroom definitely reflects the homeowners.

Another Door Opens

Another Door Opens is a design industry event with the goal of raising essential funds for Chicago House programs. In the past, the event welcomed over 550 people and grossed over $50,000, making it THE design event of the year. Architectural Artifacts, whose philosophy has always been that beautiful objects are life’s inspiration, has given vintage doors to over 50 of the best artists, interior designers, and architects and asked them to create something completely new. The designer “doors” are auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds going to Chicago House.

CHICAGO HOUSE

Lincoln Park Brownstone

A deco stylized home incorporating the traditional Asian antiquities with a transitional flare. The client challenged MILIEU with the task of combining the formal sitting room with the living room for entertaining purposes. Yet they wanted to be sure it was casual and comfortable to relax and lounge.

West Loop Condominium

Relocating from Chicago's Gold Coast to the West Loop, this client chose to use her existing traditional style furniture in a contemporary setting. Re-upholstering and refinishing existing pieces while incorporating custom items MILIEU created this blend of transitional harmony.

Water Tower Residence Corridors

One of the first projects MILIEU was involved in, all 40 floors of this condo building was updated and designed to have a transitional flare. Presenting the condo board with several options including budget analysis, on site supervision and full project management MILIEU was able to deliver the most amazing product.

Oak Park Residence

This Arts and Crafts home received an updated kitchen, bathrooms, custom furniture and a more effective layout to accommodate two children and a large dog. MILIEU designed the home to be cozy, comfortable, functional, and most importantly, practical.

Lincoln Park Lofted Master Suite

This bathroom originally contained a single standing shower, one vanity, and a water closet. MILIEU exploded this master loft into a cottage spa retreat. Combining retail and custom products we finished the space off with all the niceties of a modern bathroom. We carried real wood floors from the master bedroom into the bathroom added heated flooring through out and designed custom ceiling beams to house additional lighting.

57th Dearborn Garden Walk

The North Dearborn Association provided the theme Love in Bloom a Garden Wedding.

Step back into the 1950s' Hollywood Glam Era as we imagine Lauren Bacall's private Bridal Suite.

Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart was nothing short of one of those classic love stories you only read about. Our vignette is a tribute to one of the greatest Hollywood romances in history!

We set the stage by layering glamorous golds and antiqued whites. To create whimsy, we used textural ostrich feathers juxtaposed by silky pearls. A subtle playfulness of blush, peach, and ivory are spread throughout the space to lend an air of vintage.

Gold Coast Condo

This gorgeous three bedroom three bathroom condo located on Dearborn Ave. in the Gold Coast went through a moderate transition.

We opened up a third bedroom and transformed it to a media room. During the process the client asked us to renovate and update two bathrooms as well.

After furnishing the living room and adding a few finishing touches the client sold the unit in order to relocate to the Historical District on Astor St.

DePaul Residence

MILIEU designed ths space with style, function and budget in mind. The tight quarters provided a fun challenge to create a light open space that offers a spa like quality.

Products from unique vendors, local artisans allowed us to achieve a high style, high-end look was so gratifying to the clients taste and wallet.

55th Dearborn Garden Walk

The North Dearborn Association provided the theme in honor and celebration of Ernest Hemingway's birthday.

MILIEU designed a garden setting in collaboration with a homeowner in the Gold Coast of Chicago to reflect his journeyʼs, camping in the Serengeti plains exploring challenges earth set before man, Mt Kilimanjaro, ferocious beasts, and savages.

Inspired by the chapter titles we added subtle undertones throughout the garden settings which echo his struggle with love as well as his inner demons.

Wrigleyville Condo

Contemporary style and modern innovative detailing was the goal for this bacholers home. Our client asked to update his home with a strict limit in mind.

Utilizing the existing layout we were faced with the challenge to update the home with select finishes and hardware.

56th Dearborn Garden Walk

In addition to taking part in the one-day, self-guided walking tour of gorgeous secret gardens throughout Chicago's historic Near North and Gold Coast neighborhoods, gardening enthusiasts have the chance to experience the transformation of a select group of outdoor spaces inspired by the vignette theme: Bein' Green.

MILIEU created a functional and sustainable outdoor space bringing the indoors outside by creating innovative tablescapes and entertainment areas syncing traditional and natural elements with eco-friendly materials meant to encourage visitors to make greater use of their own outdoor space while honoring the sensible environmental ethics of sustainability.

South Loop Town Home

We were approached by a family looking to dramatically change their kitchen area. They asked for a customized look that would blend with their dining and living room spaces.

MILIEU transformed the typical builder grade kitchen into a unique and sophisticated entertaining kitchen. The addition of the island maximizes the storage capacity, offers additional work space, and even has a small seating space for the parents to watch their child as they do homework.

Glenview Residence

We explored custom product design in order to achieve a comfortable lounging space while minimizing the footprint of this client's home.

Using soft neutral tones and rich warm woods, the architectural lines of the furniture become more of the focus. A subtle grey wall color allows the artwork to stand out and highlight the unique style of the home owner.

A successful father of two began working with MILIEU updating his small guest bathroom. That little project expanded into remodeling his entire master bathroom, creating a tranquil wet room and a luxurious double vanity.

Master Bath

A long time resident requested MILIEU for a master bathroom update.  We were asked to create a low threshold shower with a bench and grab bars to accommodate aging.

NBC Tower Lobby

We don't normally work commercial projects but who are we to say no to an iconic building like this?

It was such a fun learning experience working with a team and coordinating deliveries in a highly trafficked area.
